John Carter is a principal of GeoPacific Consultants. He joined GeoPacific in 2001 upon graduating from the University of British Columbia where he received a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering. In 2000 he graduated from UBC with his Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering. John is a professional engineer and is registered in British Columbia and a member of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society.
With over 12 years of experience at GeoPacific, John has worked on a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects in British Columbia and Alberta. Some of John’s most significant projects have included: Brentwood Gate Retaining Wall (Burnaby), Ultra Tower (Surrey) and a massive waterfront project called River Green on the Fraser River located in Richmond. In 2009 John’s design of a 12 metre tall Keystone wall fronting Lougheed Highway for Brentwood Gate won a gold award from the Vancouver Regional Construction Association.
John has had extensive experience in the design of infrastructure projects with a special focus on sewer and storm water design, pile supported buildings on soft ground sites, shoring design, retaining walls, and fill site development.
